Board Meeting Minutes

Opened at 7:05 pm.

  1. NEW BUSINESS
    1. Treasurers Report
      • Balance as of 13 June 2008: $5,035.45
      • Income: $7,419.58
      • Expenses: $12,238.45
      • Balance as of 9 June 2009: $216.58
      Noel to set up checking account for curling club, now that we are incorporated.
    2. Dues for 2010
      • Income from dues should make a profit; and cover all costs and expenses.
      • Student/New Member: $40.00
      • 1st year: $50.00
      • 2nd year: $100.00
      • 3rd year & Veterans: $150.00
      • Get a 10% discount if pay before November 1.
      Motion by Paul E.; second by Mike M. All in favor.
    3. Copperspiel Chair: Gordon MacLean. He wants to set up committee and needs all interested & active members to participate.
    4. Stones
      1. Selling Old Green Bay stones (individually or as a set) We paid $100.00 per stone. Sell as set on e-bay. Paul E. will coordinate this.
      2. Annual Payment for new stones due in September (total cost $6200.00; paid to date $3100.00. due in September $1240.00) 7 left to sell: Mike M. Fraser S. Paul E., each committed to purchasing a stone. Now only 4 left to sell.
    5. New League Time/Day
      • Monday for Students
      • Tuesday and Thursday for regular league play
      • Friday, Saturday, Sunday for Bonspiels, Winter Carnival, make-up games, etc
      Mix up league night players. Offer all leagues to everyone and see how the teams/nights play out for season.
      1. Need to enforce and encourage all skips and teams to get there early to set up ice.
      2. Schedule meeting of skips before the start of the season.
    6. Rules of Play Need to be revised. Paul will do and Fraser will help.
    7. Other
      1. Very dirty ice. Need to demineralize.
      2. Start respecting other clubs. They come to our Bonspiels; need to get more of our members to go to other clubs. Women’s spiels now that we have more women in the club.
      3. Officiating classes: in the curling news.
      4. How to get youth involved in curling.
      5. Thank you note to Blue Key. Gordon will do.
